COMEDY FOR YOUR QUARANTINE: MIKE WILMOT’S ALBUM “UNCLE”

UK Based Canadian comedian Mike Wilmot has been a staple of international comedy stages for years with his world renowned stand-up act, and for the first time ever he is releasing his own full length comedy album. Produced by Cottage Comedy Digital, Mike Wilmot’s debut album release “Uncle” is now available for purchase and streaming on all major platforms. It came as no surprise that the album debuted at #1 on the iTunes comedy charts upon release. “Uncle” Mike delivers a comedy clinic with his signature raspy voice and deliriously funny material that feels like listening to an inappropriate uncle telling dirty jokes by the campfire. A throwback to the albums you had to listen to quietly so your parent’s wouldn’t hear, “Uncle” is non-stop laughs about everything from sex, monopoly, marriage and the perils of buying contraband. At 53 minutes in length, this album builds a momentum that can only be acquired from years of touring and captures perfectly a fine display of what has made him a favorite on stages like Just For Laugh’s Nasty Show and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

“Uncle Mike” tells it like it is. A veteran stand-up possessed of an extraordinarily empathetic relationship with his crowd, Mike loves enrapturing and abusing his audience with dirty gags your mum would accept from no-one else.”  COMEDIANSCOMEDIAN

ABOUT MIKE WILMOT
Mike was born with his head between a woman’s legs, took that fact, added beer and created one of the funniest stand-up acts on both sides of the Atlantic. If you live on the eastern side of the Pond and are a fan of Rich Hall’s you probably saw Mike appear with him on the BBC in Rich Hall’s Cattle Drive or Rich Hall’s Fishing Show. Or you might have seen him as himself on the BBC’s Live at the Apollo, in Never Mind the Buzzcocks or 28 Acts in 28 Minutes. Many Canadians will know Wilmot best from his appearance on CTV’s Corner Gas as Brent’s big city cousin, Carl. Wilmot has also popped up on such cult comedy favorites as The Jon Dore Television Program, and the criminally underrated Dave Foley/David Steinberg movie, The Wrong Guy.  Mike has appeared several times at the Just For Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal, as well comedy festivals in Ireland, Scandinavia, Paris, Amsterdam, Hong Kong, Bangkok and South Africa.

The above just scratches the surface of this funny man’s comedic depth. You might ask, “What do you mean by that?” And I would answer: He’s got awards. He’s got awards up the wazoo: The Barry for Outstanding Stand-up Comic Performance at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival; The Time Out Award for Outstanding Stand-up Comic in London, England; the Canadian Comedy Award for Best Male Film Performance in the cult classic It’s All Gone Pete Tong, and he twice received the Canadian Comedy Award for Best Male Stand-up.

”The bear-like, gravel voiced Mike Wilmot fires keen reports from the front line of the sex wars. He sweats; he shambles; he swears. You’ll cough, choke and chortle.” THE GLASGOW HERALD
