IRISH BORN CANADIAN COMEDIAN FIONA O’BRIEN’S ALBUM “MAGICALLY MALICIOUS” DEBUTS AT #1 ON APPLE MUSIC iTUNES COMEDY CHARTS

Recorded at the John Candy Theatre in Toronto, MAGICALLY MALICIOUS is the debut stand-up comedy album from Irish born comedian Fiona O’Brien. Hitting #1 on the Apple Music iTunes Comedy Charts, it remained there for nearly 40 straight hours and a was top 30 album in Canada.

O’Brien combines sharply crafted, side-splitting jokes with hilarious anecdotes about her assimilation to Canada and newly single status as a mother of three. Described by her as “A modern Irish immigrant’s stories of survival,” the album highlights the relatable, gregarious charm of a comedic storyteller with a knack for bringing audiences into her world, laughing all the way.

After emigrating from Ireland to Canada in 2012, Fiona began on a quest to stamp out the racism that the Irish have faced – One Lucky Charm at a time. She has quickly established herself by winning over sexually frustrated, disillusioned and otherwise bored audiences with her no restraint, provocative humour.

“When we arrived in Toronto we had no family or friends, no support system, and my husband was at work for very long hours. I was alone and needed to keep myself busy, so I would write more while the kids were in bed. Sadly our marriage ended in 2014. It was the kick up the arse I needed to start my own journey. I went online and looked up comedy courses in Toronto. In 2014 I signed up to become a student at Second City Toronto. I took all my stories and went in every Saturday for five hours to a stand-up comedy and writing class. It was a whole new lease of life for me, and I haven’t looked back since,” says O’Brien in a recent Irish Times interview.

OBrien performs at The Halifax Comedy Festival this April airing on CBC, is a two time tournament champion at Flat Tire Comedy Fest and performs nationally with Yuk Yuks on tour. She was also a finalist in the “Toronto Comedy Brawl” and “The Rising Stars” competition at Brantford Comedy Festival and a t’wo time semi finalist in Absolute Comedy’s “Prove You’re a Comic.”
